What's Happening in the Art Studio...

We are back to work in the Art Studio! Making lots of beautiful, fun art and gearing up for Community Arts Day.

Kindergarteners are finishing up their falling leaves project and will be starting on a project about weather.

First grade finished their gorgeous Monet style paintings of "The Bridge" and are now working on their version of David Hockney's "Mulholland Drive, the road to the Studio"

Second grade has completed a lovely still life project based on the artist, Paul Cezanne, and are now working on a fantastic version of Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night"

Third grade finished their Matisse paper cutout project and have been eagerly painting their long awaited clay animals this week.

Fourth grade has completed their version of a Wassily Kandinsky abstract painting, and are now working on a California Landscape painting in the impressionist style.

Fifth grade completed their drawing of their own shoes, and are now working on a printing project, while learning about Andy Warhol and Pop Art.

Thank you to all those of you who have generously volunteered their time in the art studio! I will be grateful to have you back as we resume after the break.

Art Room News - The Year Ahead

If you would like to volunteer in the art room, and didn't sign up at Back to School Night, see your child's teacher. Here is a grade-by-grade description of some of the projects we will be working on this year. Thank you, and looking forward to seeing you soon!

Kindergarten: In Kindergarten, we will be learning about primary colors and mixing them to make secondary colors. We will also learn about tints and shades, or how to make colors lighter or darker. The children will learn about collage, and make a face collage. They will also be using letters and numbers to make art. We will learn about the printing process, and use real leaves to make a fall leaf print project. Our clay project will be a hand print decorated with other small objects pressed into the clay.
